About the unit
The Innovation Unit operates within the Business Development and Innovation Area at Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). This area is dedicated to maximizing the value of innovative projects originating from IDIBELL, fostering collaborations between translational research and industry.
The primary duties of the Innovation Unit include identifying and championing scientific and innovative projects available within the campus. This involves sourcing and evaluating research outcomes, managing licensing and patents, nurturing an innovative culture, and facilitating the transfer of IDIBELL's knowledge. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure the effective valorization of research results.
About the role
We are currently seeking an Innovation Manager dedicated to facilitating the knowledge and technology transfer process of innovative projects on our campus. This role involves overseeing cutting-edge research initiatives with significant market transfer potential and guiding these projects from inception to market realization. Our Business Development and Innovation Area is committed to translating novel knowledge into tangible solutions that effectively address public health needs through fostering public-private collaborations and entrepreneurship.
Main duties and responsibilities:

Participate in the evaluation process of innovative projects from scientific, technical, and market perspectives.

Familiarize oneself with the activities of research groups on campus to identify innovative projects.

Organize, manage, and prioritize projects and patents within the Innovation Unit.

Evaluate and stablish technology transfer channels.

Develop roadmaps, provide advice, and offer support to innovation projects to enhance their market value.

Draft commercial arguments for projects.

Create business cases for projects.

Draft and negotiate collaborative agreements.

Prepare competitive calls to present innovation projects.

Mantain regular contact and provide support to principal investigators and their teams.

Attend innovation congresses and contribute to the technology transfer strategy.

Promote the institution's innovation portfolio and engage in networking with companies and trade partners.

- Additional innovation training will be a plus
- Knowledge or experience in IP protection will be a plus
- A Ph.D. in the field of life sciences will be a plus

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
