About the research group
The Biostatistics Unit of IDIBELL offers methodological and statistical consulting services to researchers at the IDIBELL campus, as well as to other public and private entities. Services provided range from study planning to data analysis and assistance with interpretation of the results. The department also offers seminars and training courses.
Our mission is to provide professional methodological guidance to clinical research in the different medical specialties, and sub-specialties. Our goal is to collaborate with teams in any step of the whole research process, not just to serve as a resource that tackles a complex analysis, in compliance with the ethical and scientific quality standards and the principles of good clinical practice.
About the role
• Statistical and methodological advice for empirical studies in medical sciences, including experimental (clinical trials) and observational studies (prevalence, cohorts and others).
• Guidance for the research plan-schedule: selection of the design-method, random allocation, sampling procedure (recruitment of sample), sample size calculation and analytic-statistical plan.
• Database structure designs, and data management.
• Advanced statistical data analysis: generalized linear models, survival analysis, generalized equation estimation models and classification methods, such as cluster andlatent analysis.
• Advice for elaborating scientific reports, including advice for interpretation of results, and review of scientific articles.
• Occasional teaching of methodology and statistics in medicine and health sciences.
