About the research group

The Department of Knowledge Management and Quality plays a key role in enhancing institutional efficiency and supporting strategic decision-making at IDIBELL. The Knowledge Management Unit oversees institutional indicators, provides guidance on research assessment and open science, and manages the institutional research data repository while offering support for data management plans. The Quality Unit ensures regulatory compliance, promotes continuous improvement, and advises on quality management systems and excellence certifications.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Data and Open Science Technician to join the Knowledge Management and Quality Department.

The overall aim of the project is to strengthen the institutional repository as a key Open Science infrastructure, enhancing its capacity to support the deposit, description, sharing and reuse of biomedical research data. The role will contribute to improving interoperability, accessibility and transparency of research outputs in line with FAIR principles and Open Science practices. Within this framework, the role will also contribute to building and maintaining a catalogue of datasets deposited in the institutional repository.

 

The main responsibilities are:

  • Provide guidance and support to researchers on data management plans, in line with Open Science and FAIR principles.
  • Provide support and training to researchers in the deposit of research data and research outputs in the institutional repository (CORA.RDR).
  • Improve the data deposit protocol in line with FAIR principles.
  • Organise training activities for researchers and support staff.
  • Participate in the dissemination of project results through communication activities.
  • Perform other project-related tasks as required.

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Previous experience in similar positions will be valued.
  • Experience with automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with research data repositories or data curation workflows will be valued.
  • Previous experience in implementing data governance systems will be valued.

Education and training

  •  University degree, preferably in Data Science, Mathematics or Engineering. Other relevant degrees will also be considered. 

Technical & soft skills

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Languages

  • Good command of the English language.
  •  Fluency in written and spoken Catalan and English is mandatory.

We will value, but not required

  • Understanding of the public research environment (preferably the biomedical sector).

  •  Contract duration: Permanent by project.
  •  Estimated annual gross salary: 35.000€ - 38.000€

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine.
