About the research group

The Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) is a research center in biomedicine promoted by the Bellvitge University Hospital and the Viladecans Hospital, both from the Catalan Health Institute, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, University of Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat city council. In 2017, the Center for Regenerative Medicine of Barcelona (CMR[B]), now part of IDIBELL, launched the Program for Advancing the Clinical Translation of Regenerative Medicine of Catalonia (P-CMR[C]) together with IDIBELL.

IDIBELL research is focused in
cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine. Research, innovation and society are the axes on which researchers work every day with the goal of improving the quality of life of citizens. IDIBELL is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, south of Barcelona.

The Business Development Unit is part of the
Business Development and Innovation Area at Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). The Business Development and Innovation Area is responsible for enhancing the value of innovative projects that are generated at IDIBELL, to promote the establishment of translational research-industry collaborations.

The
Business Development Unit is responsible for the control of spin-offs and license agreements, as well as for the promotion, management and follow up of public-private partnerships to identify new opportunities and research results that can potentially be valorised as innovation research projects. The Unit also leads the identification, application and management of strategic competitive and public-private funding, generating significant impact across the Bellvitge Campus and the TechMed ecosystem.

This work offer is partially funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III through the project PT23/00109 (Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. FEDER, a way of doing Europe). With the institutional support of CERCA Programme / Generalitat de Catalunya.

 

About the role

  • Draft and negotiation of licenses and services agreements, among others
  • Financial monitoring of licensing agreements, including the distribution of benefits among all stakeholders
  • Monitoring of executed agreements: identifying new research results, tracking financial obligations, and managing terminations
  • Generation and follow up on private-public partnerships
  • Consolidation of business relations with external partners
  • Support in assistance and follow up of IDIBELL’s spin-offs and start-ups
  • Promotion of IDIBELL’s portfolio of services
  • Regular contact and support to principal investigators and their teams
  • Evaluation of projects from a market point of view
  • Provision of business-related services
  • Draft competitive calls to present innovation grants
  • Management of the Innovation Management System of the Area
  • Execution of activities related to the promotion of the Business Development and Innovation Area of IDIBELL, both inside and outside the Campus
  • Representation of the institution in national and international congresses and networking events
  • Dynamisation and coordinate relations with agents, networks and companies both within and outside Catalonia

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Previous experience in similar roles, minimum 2 years
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience
  • Proactivity, initiative, relational skills and restlessness of improvement
  • Communicative and organizing skills, flexible, with autonomous work and ownership
  • Good communication abilities, both written and verbal
  • Customer and results orientation

Education and training

  • University Degree in Life Sciences
  • Masters degree in Life Sciences will be positively considered.

Languages

  •  Good command of the English language, Catalan and Spanish

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
