About the research group

The Neurometabolic Diseases Laboratory, led by Prof. Aurora Pujol, focuses on genomic medicine for brain genetic disorders, particularly leukodystrophies. We belong to research communities of CIBERER, La Caixa and ICREA. We integrate cutting-edge multiomics analysis for identification of molecular targets drugs repurposing, translating into clinical trials. We apply multiomic approaches to investigate immunometabolism and the role of complex lipids in regulating the innate and adaptive immune responses. Our projects are supported by both national and international grants and research networks.

About the role

We are seeking cell and molecular biologists passionate about understanding the molecular basis of brain metabolic disorders. As part of our team, you will apply integrative multiomics and functional analysis of immune cells to validate novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets in a variety of cell models and patient’s samples. Your results will directly contribute to translational research with real clinical impact.

Job requirements

Professional experience

• Experience in brain inflammation, immunometabolism, or lipid biology.
• Strong teamwork (with lab and clinical colleagues) and interpersonal skills, high motivation, and commitment

Education and training

•  BSc in Immunology, Neuroscience, Biomedicine or related disciplines 

Technical & soft skills

• Cell culture
• PCR, qPCR, ddPCR
• SIMOA
• Western blot
• Immunofluorescence
• Flow cytometry

Languages

• Good command of the English language

We will value, but not required

• Multiomics (proteomics, transcriptomics, lipidomics) analysis
• Animal models experience
• MSc degree in a related field

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
