About the research group

IDIBELL is looking for a Post-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER to incorporate within the NEPHROLOGY AND KIDNEY TRANSPLANTION Group. IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB) and the Viladecans Hospital (HV), located in south Barcelona. The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience and translational medicine; research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens. IDIBELL is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, south of Barcelona. It is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 2009, it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Institute of Health. More recently, the European Commission has recognized IDIBELL with the HRS4R logo (Excellence in Human Resources in Research), which identifies IDIBELL as a provider and supporter of a stimulating research work environment.

About the role

   • The Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation Group interest spans a broad area, ranging from immunology, renal replacement therapy, transplantation, chronic kidney disease including diabetic nephropathy, and regenerative medicine. Our research is mainly translational, collaborative and aimed to improve the care and health of patients with kidney diseases. Our goal is innovation in disease monitoring and therapy, gathering basic science with our clinical expertise, to move towards personalized medicine in Nephrology

   • We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher interested in developing a scientific career in the field of personalized medicine in Nephrology. The researcher will work in the recently funded project ISCIII PI24/01380 entitled     “Deciphering the link between immunological and non-immunological mechanisms of microvascular inflammation/transplant glomerulopathy in kidney allografts by single cell genomics”. Specifically, the candidate will collaborate in cell isolation from kidney biopsies, urine and PBMCs, flow cytometry characterization and bioinformatic analysis and will be responsible of the in vitro co-culture experiments to validate candidate genes and pathways. In addition to this specific role, our group is interested in a candidate seeking for the environment to develop a future scientific career as a PI.

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Background in mechanism of organ repair, inflammation, fibrosis or transplant immunology.
  • Candidates with proven experience in any of the following topics will receive a higher consideration in the selection process: molecular biology, 3D culture, experimental mouse models and bioinformatics
  • FELASA B and any additional training in working with animal models would be an asset.

Education and training

  • PhD in Health Sciences: Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy or related bio-medical discipline
  • Publication record with at least 1 first-author articles in D1 journals 

Technical & soft skills

  • Candidates with experience in handling and characterizing models of organ fibrosis and/or cell isolation, flow cytometry, cell sorting, confocal microscopy and molecular techniques will be preferred
  • Soft skills: project planning, analytical and critical thinking, ethics and integrity, leadership, information seeking and management
  • Person with initiative, own resources and positive attitude towards teamwork

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

 

We will value, but not required

  • FELASA B and any additional training in work with animal models
  • Knowledge on bioinformatic tools
