About the research group
The mechanisms of kidney repair are critical to minimize the long-term impact of kidney damage. Our group is working in deciphering the role of kidney progenitor cells in repair and damage and studying the induction of cellular senescence as key player in fibrosis development after kidney transplantation. We also aim to enhance the reparative role of progenitor cells, which is diminished with age. These projects are conducted in collaboration with EU outstanding investigators. The student will work trying to ascertain whether senescence is limiting the repair capacity of progenitor cells
About the role
The Nephrology research group interest spans a broad area, ranging from immunology, renal replacement therapy, transplantation, chronic kidney disease including diabetic nephropathy, and regenerative medicine. Our research is mainly translational, collaborative and aimed to improve the care and health of patients with kidney diseases. Our ultimate goal is innovation in disease monitoring and therapy, gathering basic science with our clinical expertise, to move towards personalized medicine in Nephrology.
Job requirements
Professional experience
- Degree in Health Sciences. Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, etc..
- Research experience will be valued
- FELASA B and any additional training in working with murine models would be an asset.
Education and training
- Nephrology Fellowship
- Experience in epidemiological studies
Technical & soft skills
- Medical specialty in Nephrology
- High motivation, analytical and critical thinking, ethics and integrity, information seeking, good communication skills, flexibility social and team working ability
Languages
- Good command of the English language

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
