The Innovation Department of Bellvitge University Hospital, in collaboration with the Bioheart Research Group at IDIBELL (Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute), promotes the development of innovative digital solutions to improve healthcare, medical training, and knowledge transfer. The department works at the intersection of clinical practice, research, and technology to create tools that support healthcare professionals and foster advanced training in specialized areas of medicine.
The Bioheart Group focuses on cardiovascular research and innovation, developing projects that integrate biomedical research, digital technologies, and education to improve patient care and professional training.
About the role
The Software Engineer will join the Innovation Department of Bellvitge University Hospital and collaborate with the Bioheart Research Group to develop digital tools for specialized healthcare training. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining digital content, applications, and software platforms designed to support advanced education in health sciences.
The role will involve working closely with clinicians, researchers, and innovation specialists to translate medical knowledge into interactive digital learning resources, including web platforms, training applications, and other educational software solutions.
Job requirements
Professional experience
- Proven experience in software development, application development, or digital platform design.
- Experience in the development of web-based applications and digital learning environments.
- Ability to design, develop, and maintain digital content and software tools for educational purposes.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, researchers, and technical staff.
- Ability to manage development tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to project needs.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Education and training
- Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
- Training or previous experience in software development, digital learning technologies, or health-related technological projects will be considered an advantage.
Technical & soft skills
- Experience in software and application development.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar.
- Experience with web development frameworks and digital content platforms.
- Ability to develop educational software tools and interactive digital resources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
Languages
- Good command of the English language.
- Professional proficiency in Spanish and Catalan.
We will value, but not required
- Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields will be positively valued.
- Experience in digital health, e-learning platforms, or medical education technologies.
- Experience in mobile app development (iOS or Android).
- Knowledge of UX/UI design applied to educational or healthcare tools.
- Experience working in research environments, hospitals, or biomedical institutions.
- Familiarity with data visualization, simulation technologies, or AI-based tools applied to education.
