About the research group

The Biobanc HUB-ICO-IDIBELL is a public, non-profit establishment that was created with the aim of managing and regulating the different collections of human biological samples obtained at the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), at the Duran i Reynals Hospital (ICO) and other associated centers, for research and in accordance with current regulations (Law 14/2007, of July 3, on Biomedical Research and RD 1716/2011, of November 18).
The Biobanc-HUB-ICO-IDIBELL has been authorized by the General Directorate of Health Planning and Research of the Departament de Salut of the Generalitat de Catalunya and is registered in the National Registry of Biobanks of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III in accordance with RD 1716/2011, which establishes the basic requirements for authorization and operation of Biobanks for biomedical research purposes and for the treatment of biological samples of human origin. The Biobank is part of the National Network of Biobanks.
The Biobank is attached to the Clinical Research Ethics Committee (CEIC) of the HUB and to the External Scientific Committee (CCE) of the Biobank.

 

About the role

The candidate will provide support in the daily main tasks of the Biobank.

Main functions:


   • Carry out and guarantee the correct processing and archiving of biological human samples (fluids isolation, cryopreservation techniques, histological techniques, molecular biology techniques).
   • Management of biobank databases.
   • Carry out quality controls established in the Biobank’s processes.
   • Participate in the development of the Biobank’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).
   • Receipt and registration of informed consents.
   • Management of international and/or national transfer/delivery of samples and associated documents.
    • To give eventual support to the Biobank Coordinator.

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Demonstrable experience in a biobank or similar laboratories.

Education and training

  •  Laboratory technician CFGS in Pathological Anatomy 

Technical & soft skills

  • Proven experience in human samples manipulation.
  • Previous experience in histological, immunohistochemistry, basic molecular biology techniques and cell culture.
  • Lab management skills (analytical, organizational and time management).

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

 

We will value, but not required

  • Specific training in human samples manipulation.
  • Experience in quality management systems.
  • Management of data sets and personal data for research.
  • Experience in database management such as Noraybanks, Bio e-bank

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine.
