About the research group

Psychoneurobiology of Eating and Addictive Behaviours

The Clinical Psychology Unit of the Bellvitge University Hospital-IDIBELL and the Psychoneurobiology of Eating and Addictive Behaviours Group has an intense research activity mainly focused on eating disorders and behavioral addictions. Due to the growing number of research projects where we are involved, the support of a junior statistician is required. She/he will be working under the supervision of a senior statistician-methodologist of the group.

About the role

Collecting technical data for a Health Technology Development project, supporting a project on obesity and entering data and managing databases from the various active projects.

Support to design and management of relational databases to ensure the quality of clinical data capture, store useful information, and adequate administration of the information. Design will be performed for longitudinal data with complex samples structures. Required:

• Normalized database designs: relational databases in accordance with normal forms programmed to reduce data redundance, to ensure properly dependencies among tables, and to guarantee relational integrity.
• Creation of tables with adequate and complete invalid data control systems, including pre-validations, in-validations and post-validations.
• Creation of forms to view, add, and update data in tables. The forms will be designed to facilitate the collection of data through adequate graphical interface and validation components to check the information.
• Creation of queries to retrieve datafiles for statistical analysis. These queries will include calculated fields, filters and the dependencies between tables to ensure relational integrity.
• Creation of queries to print advanced reports, for example the result of screening-diagnostic tests or the clinical state at different phases of the treatment (baseline, post-intervention and follow-up).
• Design of relational structures for multicenter studies with online data management.
• Descriptive analysis, including quantitative summaries for quantitative variables (rank, percentiles, mean and standard deviation) and categorical variables (frequency distribution)

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Be 16 years or older and not have reached the age of 30 on September 1st.
  • At the start date of the contract, it will be an essential requirement to be registered as unoccupied job seekers (DONO) in the Public Employment Service of Catalonia (SOC) .
  • At the time of starting the contract candidates cannot have worked at IDIBELL in the previous 6 months.

    Education and training

    •  CFGS related to Informatics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or any close field
    Knowledge of database management systems: ACCESS and RedCAP

    Technical & soft skills

    • Team player with ability to learn new skills, tasks and technologies and teach others

    Languages

    • Good command of the English language (C-level or equivalent)
