Research Technician in Immunology (10h/week)
REF. 26-089_SS_JS
About the research group
Our research group focuses on the study of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying sepsis and critical illness, with a particular interest in the immunoparalysis state of the innate immune response. This condition is characterized by a reduced functional capacity of immune cells, especially monocytes, to respond to stimuli such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a phenomenon known as endotoxin tolerance.
In recent studies, our group has demonstrated that decreased TNFa production following LPS stimulation is associated with the presence of bacteremia in patients with suspected sepsis. This finding enables the detection of bacterial infections much faster than conventional blood cultures, providing valuable time for clinical decision-making and improving patient management.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated Research Technician to support ongoing research projects in innate immunity and translational immunology. The selected candidate will perform flow cytometry and cell culture experiments, assist in the processing of human samples, contribute to laboratory organization and inventory management, and support the day-to-day activities of the research group.
