Research Support - Cancer Immunotherapy
REF. 26-083_SS_CM
About the research group
The Cancer Immunotherapy (CIT) group is part of the Cancer Immunotherapy Program (ProCURE) within the Molecular Mechanisms and Experimental Therapy in Oncology (ONCOBELL) program of the Cancer Department of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). It is located at the Institut Català d'Oncologia - Hospital Duran i Reynals (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona) and is co-led by Dr. Ramón Alemany and Dr. Josep Maria Piulats. We are collaborating with Dr Salazar (colorectal cancer) Dr Moreno (Universal CaR-T development) and Dr Del Carpio (Sarcoma) in different projects. The CIT researches the development of new cancer treatments based on the administration of oncolytic viruses, adoptive cell therapy, and other strategies aimed at enhancing the immune system's response to tumors, with a particular focus on poorly immunogenic or "cold" tumors (colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, uveal melanoma, ovarian cancer, and sarcomas, among others).
About the role
The selected person will develop the translational research focused on the development of new immunotherapies based on tumor reactive TCRs, universal CAR-T cells and improving autologous adoptive T-cell therapies. In this project, we will select tumor targets and develop cellular therapies against colorectal, sarcoma and prostate tumors. We will expand our current research to improve the ex-vivo expansion of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes antigen recognizing tumor specific antigens, testis specific antigens (TSA) or human endogenous retroviruses (hERVs). Secondly, to identify and follow-up TSA/hERV reactive T-
cell clones in peripheral blood and to select, clone and characterize reactive T-cell receptors (TCRs) from T-cells recognizing testis-specific antigens to develop new therapeutic products. The role of the contracted technician will be to perform functional assays, cytometry analyses, cell culture and cellular-molecular protocols related to the project.
