About the research group

The successful candidate will join the ProCURE-OncoBELL research environment at IDIBELL/ICO led by Dr. Alvaro Aytes. The group studies prostate cancer progression and therapy resistance using translational approaches that combine genetically engineered mouse models, organoid and cell culture systems, and molecular and computational analyses. The funded project investigates mechanisms of resistance in castration-resistant prostate cancer and aims to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities with preclinical potential

 

About the role

IDIBELL is looking for a Research Technician to join a funded translational cancer research project focused on mechanisms of resistance to antiandrogen and immunotherapy treatment in castration-resistant prostate cancer. The selected candidate will support the development of experimental work linked to the project, with a strong emphasis on prostate cancer biology and preclinical models. Duties will include participation in mouse experiments, sample processing, molecular and cellular assays, data collection, and general support to ongoing translational research activities in the laboratory. The candidate is expected to work closely with senior researchers and contribute to high-quality, reproducible research.

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Previous hands-on research experience in prostate cancer research.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mouse models in a biomedical research setting, including in vivo experimentation, tissue collection and/or downstream analysis.

Education and training

  • Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. A Masters degree will be highly valued.
  • Training in cancer biology, translational oncology, animal experimentation, or related areas will be considered essential for the profile. 

Technical & soft skills

  • Practical laboratory skills in molecular and cellular biology techniques; ability to work accurately, keep detailed records and follow established protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills, motivation for translational cancer research, capacity to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

 

We will value, but not required

  • Experience with organoid cultures, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, bioinformatics/data analysis, or FELASA/official accreditation for animal experimentation.
