About the research group

Infectious Disease Department. Laboratory of Experimental Infection.The Difficult to Treat Infections and Antimicrobians Use research group covers a diverse series of lines of clinical and experimental research, all of which have proved to be difficult in terms of finding an effective treatment and optimal use of antimicrobial medicinal products. In all cases, the study aim is to optimise antimicrobial medications, their mechanisms of action and their ability to reach the pathogenic organisms.

 

About the role

  • Performance of experimental studies to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of antibiotics.
  • Use of in vitro pharmacodynamic models of biofilm infection by Gram-negative bacilli
  • Communication and publication of results in scientific meetings and journals

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Previous knowledgement on Microbiology and/or Infectious Diseases
  • Previous experience on experimental models of infectious diseases
  • Background knowledge on pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics and the use of in vitro phar-macodynamic methods

 

Education and training

  • Used to manage microbiological procedures: bacterial cultures, determination of MIC values, bacterial biofilms, etc
  • Knowledgement on the evaluation of antibiotic efficacy and its pharmacodynamics 
  • Higher Vocational Training in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory or related

 

Technical & soft skills

  • Knowledge about how to work in a laboratory of experimental research
  • Management of database program

 

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine.
