About the research group

Nucleases and Immunity group - Soler Lab, Universitat de Barcelona / IDIBELL

Lab websites: https://www.ub.edu/portal/web/dp-patologia-terapeutica/nucleases-and-immunity; Immunity, inflammation and cancer – Idibell
Our research investigates the relevance and mechanisms of the exonuclease TREX2 and other nucleases in skin diseases, and evaluates TREX2 as a therapeutic target. Based on our findings of TREX2 keratinocyte-restricted expression and pro-inflammatory role, we are developing first-in-class TREX2 inhibitors as keratinocyte-based therapies for psoriasis and other TREX2-driven skin inflammatory diseases, with the potential to avoid adverse effects associated with immune-targeted treatments.
The lab integrates molecular and cellular biology, mouse models, multi-omics, among other approaches, in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Our aim is to generate innovative and transferable knowledge and open new avenues for skin diseases with unmet medical needs.
