About the Unit

The mission of the Unit is to promote and monitor IDIBELL's image by developing and implementing clear, coherent and attractive strategies that improve public understanding of science and the institute, its researchers and its value for the society. The Unit pursues this mission through a wide range of initiatives and activities aimed at different audiences, including researchers, journalists and the media, politicians, students, science teachers, the general public and, of course, members of IDIBELL. On the other hand, the Unit is responsible for carrying out institutional fundraising actions and campaigns to obtain funds to accelerate the research developed at the Institute and launch new innovative projects. The Unit Head reports directly to the General Director.

 

About the role

The Head of Corporate Communications and Fundraising will be responsible for the following main tasks:

• Develop and execute IDIBELL's communications and marketing strategy, including defining objectives, planning, and establishing timeframes. Act as the coordinator to ensure the consistent delivery of the communications plan in collaboration with other departments.

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support IDIBELL’s mission and goals. This includes identifying potential funding sources, setting fundraising targets, and creating a plan to achieve these targets.

• Ensure strategic alignment with the Communication Departments of IDIBELL's main partners on campus.

• Coordinate the internal communication strategy to foster the IDIBELL community and develop a corporate branding strategy.

• Co-supervise activities related to "Responsible Research and Innovation" policies, including public engagement and science education.

• Check and manage department budget. Supervise a team of 4 people that may grow according to the performance of the Unit

 

 

Job requirements

 

Professional experience

  • Professional experience is required; at least 5 years of demonstrated track record and skills gained with similar responsibilities.
  • Experience in leading teams and project budget management.

 

Education and training

  • Holder of a bachelor's degree (preferably in communications or related field, or life sciences).  
  • Postgraduate training preferably in science communications, strategy communications, corporate branding, etc.

  

 Technical & soft skills

  • Ability to conceptualize, create and deliver an organizational communications strategy.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing digital content management systems, social media platforms and familiarity with analytic tools.
  • Experience of writing, editing and producing written communications for targeted audiences.
  • Understanding of the need for and value of a visual identity and branding. Experience of setting and working with branding guidelines.
  • Good team-working skills, ability to effectively manage multiple activities or projects of varying complexity with conflicting priorities involving cross-functional teams and aggressive time constraints and workload.
  • Advanced communication and collaboration skills across a range of audiences including researchers, clinicians, students, staff, governing bodies and the wider public.
  • Service-oriented, multi-tasking, collaborative, attention to detail, energy, flair, adaptability and a willingness to learn

 

 Languages

  • English, Catalan and Spanish to an advanced and sophisticated level, all of them written and verbal.

 

We will value, but not required

  • Experience working in health care environments.
  • To have been a principal investigator of competitive grants, especially from FECYT.

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine. Research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens.
