About the unit

The Information Technology Unit oversees all IT operations at IDIBELL, offering comprehensive support and guidance to its researchers and various support units.

Our unit is committed to facilitating institutional management in meeting its objectives through the provision of reliable, secure, efficient, and innovative technology solutions. We continually strive to meet the diverse needs of the institution's processes, guided by principles of responsibility, quality, and confidentiality. Our ultimate goal is to deliver the highest standard of service to users, ensuring optimal support and administration of the research center's technological infrastructure.

 

About the role

Hardware Maintenance and Management   

  • Installation and configuration of IT equipment such as computers, printers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Diagnosis and repair of hardware failures.
  • Management of hardware inventory, including updating and replacing obsolete equipment.

Software Support

  • Installation and update of specialized software for biomedical research.
  • Troubleshooting software issues, including operating systems, office applications, and specific research programs.

Networks and Communications

  • Management and maintenance of network infrastructure, ensuring constant and efficient connectivity.
  • Troubleshooting network issues, such as connection failures or configuration problems.
  • Network security, implementing measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access or cyberattacks.

Information Security

  • Implementation of information security policies, including password management and backups.
  • Monitoring and responding to security incidents, protecting the integrity and confidentiality of research data.

User Support

  • Attention and resolution of technical incidents presented by the center's users.
  • Continuous advice and training to researchers and staff on the proper use of ICT.
  • Documentation and tracking of incidents and applied solutions.

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • At least 1 year of experience

Education and training

  •  Technical degree (FPII) or Higher Vocational Training (CFGS) in Informatics


Technical skills

  • Microsoft 365
  • Operating Systems: Windows and Linux
  • Computer RepairNetworks: Cisco, Fortinet
  • Knowledge of these programs: Endnote, Mendeley, Graphpad, Sequenzer, Fiji, FlowJo, GnomeStudio, Kaluza, ImageJ, Prism, RStudio


Languages

  • Good command of the English language

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine. Research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens.
