Research Support Technician - Neurometabolic Diseases

Ref.: 23-279_SS_AP

About the research group

Neurometabolic diseases

Work will be carried out in our multidisciplinary Systems Medicine research team at IDIBELL, Bellvitge Campus (www.neurometabolic-lab.org, http://www.idibell.cat/en/content/neurometabolic-diseases) under the supervision of ICREA Professor Aurora Pujol.

The leukodystrophies are brain white matter genetic disorders that affect mainly children and lead to death early in life. We are using systems neurobiology approaches for unraveling molecular causes of adrenoleukodystrophy, using patient’s samples and iPSC derived brain organoids, multi-omics big data generation and integration, followed by functional validation. The combined learnings in genomics, immunology and neuroscience will be used in the identification of novel therapeutic targets and the design of clinical trials for saving children’s lives.

About the role

We are seeking a candidate passionate about organellar crosstalk, bioenergetics, immunology, aging, and neuroscience. They should be enthusiastic about working with brain organoids in collaboration with Consiglio's Lab. Utilizing multiomic approaches, we aim to unravel pathogenesis and understand the metabolic requirements of the developing brain to discover treatments for ultrarare metabolic diseases.
