About the research group

Cardiovascular Diseases Research Group (BIO-HEART)

Biomedical Research Group on Heart Disease BIO-HEART comprises health professionals associated with the management of cardiovascular diseases, as basic postdoctoral researchers, clinical cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, specialized nurses, community family medicine professional and cardiologists specialized in imaging techniques for diagnosis of coronary artery disease and heart failure. The group's multidisciplinary vocation is to generate new scientific knowledge that connects basic research with the most practical aspects of patient care, in collaboration with other groups of the program, in order to build a translational research philosophy with an impact on reducing the morbidity and mortality of heart diseases. This objective must materialize in the publication of biomedical studies of great impact and the attainment of competitive funding (public and private). BIOHEART background is a strong clinical network of senior researchers in heart failure and coronary diseases working on multidisciplinary teams that have transferred the scientific knowledge outputs obtained from previous research projects to redesign the care of patients with cardiovascular diseases.

 

About the role

The role of the person who joins the team will be to contribute, help and conduct the clinical registry to assess management and prognosis in critical patients with cardiovascular diseases admitted to the intensive cardiac care unit. The focus of investigation will be mainly patients with acute cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock and sudden death undergoing mechanical circulatory support, invasive mechanical ventilation and renal replacement therapies. The person will join the clinical team to do work camp in clinical registry assessing prognostic factors in these complex clinical settings. The person must have prior knowledge of critical care and intensive cardiology, preferently with specific knowledge in interventionism cardiology and acute myocardial infarction, mechanical circulatory support, antithromrombotic management and thrombotic and bleeding complications in critically ill patients with cardiovascular diseases.

  • Critical care specialist (cardiogenic shock treatment specialitst)

Education and training

  • Degree in Medicine

Languages

  • Good command of the Spanish, Catalan and English languages

  • Speaker in national and international cardiology congresses
  • Investigator in clinical trials
