About the research group

Neurometabolic diseases

The Neurometabolic Diseases laboratory directed by Dr. Aurora Pujol is dedicated to advancing the management of rare brain disorders through precision medicine, focusing on genomic diagnostics and treatments that modify disease progression. Our primary research targets X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD), using multiomic approaches to explore disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets. Additionally, the group applies clinical and functional genomics to uncover and diagnose novel disease genes involved in brain white matter disorders. We are funded by national and international grant schemes.

 

About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to coordinate research and clinical projects focused on understanding and treating neurometabolic disorders. He/She will manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure the successful completion of lab initiatives, including clinical studies, experimental protocols, and grant submissions. He/She will work closely with principal investigators, lab staff, institutional scientific and management support teams, international collaborators, and funding agencies, ensuring that all activities adhere to scientific, regulatory, and ethical standards.

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Preparation of grant applications and justifications

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budgets.

  • Strong knowledge of life sciences research processes and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary research projects. Experience with neuro or metabolic projects is a plus.

Education and training

  • PhD in Life Sciences

 

  • Postdoctoral training in international environment is a plus. 

Technical & soft skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Familiarity with laboratory protocols, data handling, and understanding of clinical trial processes.

  • Collaborative, problem-solving attitude

  • Proficiency with office and AI-driven tools for text correction is a plus

Languages

  •  Proficient in both English and Spanish
