About the research group

Aging and Cancer Group, led for Dr.Purificación Muñoz Moruno, as part of the Oncobell Program investigates how the cancer cell plasticity and tumor microenvironment impact on tumor progression, immunotherapy response and metastasis. To achieve these goals, we conduct translational studies using mouse models, in vitro assays and patient samples. By utilizing cutting-edge techniques, we aim to determine the mechanisms responsible for metastasis development and resistance to immunotherapy, as well as to identify potential predictive biomarkers.

About the role

IDIBELL is looking for a motivated graduated students who wish to do their PhD in a scientific stimulating environment and with an interest in cancer cell biology and therapy response. We encourage applications from young scientist, biologist, biochemists, veterinarians and pharmacologists.

Selected candidate will have the opportunity to enroll in the Doctorate Program of your choice while conducting your practical training at our state-of-the-art laboratory, studying mechanisms of immunotherapy resistance and metastasis in skin and lung cancer.

Job requirements

Professional experience

• Knowledge in primary cell culture, flow cytometry analysis and therapeutic treatments for mouse models of cancer
• Knowledge in immunoncology
• Knowledge in cellular senescence and plasticity

Education and training

•  Bachelor in life science Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Biotechnology or related disciplines 

Technical & soft skills

• Experience in managing mouse models and their therapeutic treatments.
• Experience in cancer and immune cell isolation and culture.
• Experience in the characterization by FACS analysis of tumor-infiltrating immune cells

Languages

• Good command of the English language

We will value, but not required

• Experience in molecular biology and immunohistochemistry analysis.

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
