Research Technician - Nutrition and Dietetics for the Vascular Risk Unit (Internal Medicine)

About the research group

Our research team, is led by Dr. Xavier Pintó, Head of the Vascular Risk Unit of the Internal Medicine Service of Bellvitge University Hospital and professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Barcelona (UB). Our group was founded more than 25 years ago and is included in the Research Groups of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), linked to the Bellvitge University Hospital. Our group is also integrated in the Center for Biomedical Research in Network of the Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition dependent on the Carlos III Health Institute (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness). Our general objective is to study the determinants of dyslipidemia, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

About the role

• Collaboration as a dietician in clinical trials.
• Handling pending issues related to the Predimed Plus trial.
• Review and development of educational material to promote healthy lifestyle habits.
• Delivery of lectures to update knowledge on nutrition.
• Patient visits in the Vascular Risk Unit.
• Data entry, validation, and systematic updates of internal databases.
• Statistical analysis of clinical data.
• Discussion of clinical trial results.

Job requirements

Professional experience

• Have demonstrable experience of at least 5 years visiting high cardiovascular risk patients.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting workshops and training talks on nutrition, lifestyle habits, promotion of physical activity and motivational-behavioral interventions.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Predimed Plus trial. Experience in administering research questionnaires, including those related to nutrition (FFQ, 24h recall, beverage questionnaire), physical activity (PAR-Q, RAPA1 and RAPA2, NHS and the chair test), quality of life (SF-36), cognitive-neuropsychological tests (Mini-Mental Status Examination, clock test, phonological verbal fluency test (animals + P), the reverse series of digits test WAIS-III) and also experience in psychopathological questionnaires (Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), multidimensional scale of weight locus of control, eating disorders diagnostic criteria (TCA).
• Proven track record of contributions to scientific publications.
• Experience in managing visit scheduling and blood analysis, as well as handling samples and resolving potential incidents.
• Experience in developing educational material to promote the improvement of lifestyle habits.
• Experience working in a unit specialized in cardiovascular prevention and lipid metabolism.
• Experience participating in clinical trials in nutrition, cardiovascular risk factors, and lipid metabolism.
• Demonstrate having presented communications or posters at scientific conferences.
• Experience entering research data into e-CRF
• Registered member of the Official Catalan Association of nutritionists (CODINUCAT).

Education and training

•  Higher vocational training (CFGS) in administration or a related discipline required.
• A background in Nutrition and Dietetics or similar fields will be a plus. 

Technical & soft skills

• We are looking for someone with initiative, strong planning and organizational skills, and a positive attitude towards working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
• The candidate should also be capable of organizing and leading a clinical trial in nutrition.
• Good communication skills and strong motivation to achieve nutritional and lifestyle goals.

Languages

• Good command of Spanish and Catalan and English language.

We will value, but not required

• ACTIC certification (Intermediate or Advanced level) will be considered an asset.
