About the research group
Epidemiology of bacterial infections. Investigation of the pathogenesis and molecular basis of antimicrobial resistance
The epidemiology of bacterial infections group is focused on clinical and microbiology research. Our primary research areas include antimicrobial resistance, virulence factor, pathogenesis and phylogenetic of Streptococcus, Haemophilus and Staphylococcus.
About the role
We are looking for looking for a motivated person who wants to join in our Streptococcus pneumoniae research line. The candidate will start working in invasive pneumococcal disease, as well as colonization in adults. The future PhD student should have interest in laboratory procedures, bioinformatics analysis and sharing results with the scientific community.
Job requirements
Professional experience
-
Stage or practicum in Clinical Microbiology Laboratory.

Previous experience with bacterial grow culture, antibiotic susceptibility testing, MALDI-TOF, PCR serotyping of pneumococci and whole genome sequencing in Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Education and training

Degree in Biology (Mark > 6,5)

Master in Advanced Microbiology. Public Health (Mark > 8)

Pre-registered in the PhD Program of Medicine and Translational Research, of the UB

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
