About the research group

The Diabetes and Metabolism Programme focusses on the research of metabolic regulation and cellular plasticity in obesity and diabetes, as well as on the cellular and regenerative therapy used for its treatment.

The IDIBELL Diabetes and Metabolism Programme studies the cellular and molecular biology of the pancreatic islet, and in particular the mechanisms of regeneration of pancreatic beta cells and its application to the treatment of diabetes, the role of adipose tissue in metabolic and hormonal alterations that link obesity to diabetes, regulation and metabolic integration in the context of the pathophysiology of chronic processes associated with metabolic disease and cancer, and the signalling pathways involved in the control of cell metabolism in order to obtain new treatment methods through the modification of these metabolic pathways.

 

About the role

The hired person will carry out the typical duties of a Senior Technician in a research laboratory.

  •  Senior Technician in Pathological Anatomy and Cytodiagnosis 

Technical & soft skills

  • Paraffin embedding and cryopreservation
  • Sectioning using a microtome and cryostat
  • Management of storage, files, and records of blocks, sections, and stains
  • Performing immunohistochemical staining

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

We will value, but not required

  • Knowledge of cell culture, immunoassay, and basic molecular biology

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
