About the research group

The Financial Control and Risk/Compliance Management Unit is part of the Department of Economic Management and Administration. The unit manages, values and records the economic transactions carried out by the institution in order to prepare complete and reliable reports in accordance with current legislation. All activities related to budget, financial reporting, management of fixed assets, taxes and cash management are carried out by this Unit. In addition, the company must develop and implement the institution's risk management, including internal control mechanisms that affect different departments.
Therefore, it must identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks so that the company complies with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

 

About the role

The Head of Financial Control and Risk/Compliance management makes analysis, reports, business partnership with the rest of the areas and gives support to the Head of the Department.
We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and results oriented candidate with a high level of collaboration.

Main duties and responsibilities will be the following:

• Make day-to-day aspects of the business’s accounting and reporting functions

• To ensure the accuracy of monthly closing for general accounting, accounts payable and treasury

• Elaborate the monthly and annual required financial information for internal and external purposes

• Elaborate financials for the budget at IDIBELL and deviation analysis report between actuals, budget and previous year

• Business dashboard creation and automatization and KPI’s proposal.

• Management of fixed assets

• To ensure the effectiveness of the financial procedures and internal controls and propose the necessary changes

• Help with tax forms and settlements

• Support with the statutory financial audit.

• Development of internal control mechanisms related with different departments.

• Identify and evaluate risks according to the applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

• Carry out continuos survellance of different risk/comlliance processes

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Minimum 1 year previous experience in related areas

  • 2-3 years working for a Big-Four Audit firm is recommended, but not a must

Education and training

  •  University Degree: Bachelor's degree in Economics or Business Administration 

Technical & soft skills

  • ERP expertise, preferable Fundanet

  • Excel expertise.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to lead teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Pragmatism and ability to prioritize actions effectively.

  • Results-oriented with the ability to execute within budget constraints.

  • Organizational skills to plan and execute various activities.

  • Empathy.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

 

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

Our institute

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine.
