About the research group

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist for a full-time position at the Laboratory of translation control and cancer stem cells. The laboratory is located in the vibrant scientific environment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences located on the campus Bellvitge (UB) next to the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), Bellvitge Hospital, the Hospital Duran i Reynals, and the Centre of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMRB) creating a rich multidisciplinary environment and scientific hub with state-of-the-art infrastructures and technologies

About the role

In the laboratory we investigate how protein synthesis and translational control contribute to tumor heterogeneity and plasticity in Colorectal Cancer (CRC). The position involves working with advanced genetically engineered mouse models and patient-derived colorectal cancer organoids to explore the role of translational control in the plasticity of CRC cells.

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Expertise acquired by the candidate during previous job experiences and the track of publications of the candidate

Education and training

  • PhD in cancer biology, or related fields
  • Strong background in cellular and molecular biology.

 

Technical & soft skills

  • Collaborative spirit with other team members
  • Willingness to learn new techniques
  • Engagement in constructive discussions

Languages

  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken English.

We will value, but not required

  • Proficiency in working with mice models, experience in scRNAseq and knowledge in basic R programming are a plus.

  •  Contract duration: 1 year, renewable up to 3 years.
  •  Estimated annual gross salary: €29,500 - €34,500 (dependent on qualifications and experience).
