About the research group
The successful candidate will join the Barcelona Stem Cell Bank (BLC-B) headed by Dr. Anna Veiga, which belongs to the Program of Regenerative Medicine at IDIBELL. The BLC-B's main goal is to provide to basic and clinical researchers the generation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), both embryonic stem cells (hESC) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) and characterisation and banking of hPSC, as well as to advise and to give support to researchers in the management of projects in which hPSC are used or derived.

About the role
The candidate will work in the team of the BLC-B, culturing hESCs and hiPSCs under feeder dependent and feeder-free conditions, freezing and thawing of hPSCs and preparing of hPSC samples for their characterization. The characterization includes copy number- and qRT-PCR, Alkaline Phosphatase staining, Karyotype analysis, microsatellite determination, analysis of pluripotency marker by Immunocytochemistry, Embryoid body formation and differentiation towards the three germ layers and analysis of expression of differentiation marker by Immunocytochemistry.
The candidate is expected to support the daily work in the team and to be engaged in planning, scientific discussion and technical troubleshooting.

Education and training
- F.P. Grado superior in Biology, Biotechnology or life science disciplines
- Biology Degree
- Training to work in cell culture
Technical & soft skills
- Cell culture of immortalized cells and primary cells
- Sample preparation for characterization of iPSCs by AP-staining, PCR, Immunochemistry
- Preparation of solutions and cell culture media
- Thawing and freezing of cells, cell counting
- Control of stocks
- Organizational and management capacities
