About the research group

Our research team is led by Dr. Xavier Pintó, Head of the Vascular Risk Unit of the Internal Medicine Service at Bellvitge University Hospital and a professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Barcelona (UB). Founded over 25 years ago, our group is part of IDIBELL and is linked to Bellvitge University Hospital. We are also integrated into the Center for Biomedical Research in Network of the Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN), under the Carlos III Health Institute (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness). Our general objective is to study the determinants of dyslipidemia, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

About the role

• Mainly work as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in the PREDIMED PLUS trial and other clinical trials
• Review and create educational materials aimed at improving lifestyle habits
• Deliver lectures to update and enhance knowledge on nutrition
• Visit and assess special cases of patients in the Vascular Risk Unit
• Enter patient data into databases and perform statistical analyses of clinical data
• Contribute to discussions on clinical trial results

Job requirements

Professional experience

• Experience in educating on healthy lifestyles, promoting of physical activity, and adbvocating for a Mediterranean dietary pattern
• Experience in the field of nutrition research is an asset
• Proven experience in conducting motivational group visits to achieve desired outcomes
• Registered member of the official Catalan Association of nutritionists (CODINUCAT).
• At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in visiting patients in a nutrition consultation
• Experience administering various research questionnaires, including those related to nutrition (FFQ, 24h recall, beverages questionnaire), physical activity (PAR-Q, RAPA1 and RAPA2, NHS and the chair test), quality of life (SF-36), and in cognitive-neuropsychological tests: Mini-Mental Status Examination, clock test, phonological verbal fluency test (animals + P), the reverse series of digits test (WAIS-III), and the trail-making test, and also, psychopathological questionnaires: Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), multidimensional scale of weight locus of control, eating disorders diagnostic criteria (TCA)
• Experience in managing visit scheduling and blood analysis, as well as handling samples, data collection questionnaires, and resolving potential incidents.
• Experience in creating didactic material to promote the improvement of life habits.
• Collaboration with in a unit specialized in cardiovascular prevention and lipid metabolism.
• Experience in clinical trials of Nutrition, cardiovascular risk factors, and lipid metabolism
• Experience in writing and preparing grants for scientific projects.
• Demonstrated experience in presenting communications or posters at scientific conferences.
• Experience entering research data into e-CRF

Education and training

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics

• Master's Degree in Clinical Research in Health Sciences

Technical & soft skills

• Initiative, demonstrates strong planning and organizational skills, with a proactive approach and a positive attitude towards working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Capable of organizing and leading a clinical trial in nutrition
• Possesses excellent communication skills and strong motivation to achieve nutritional and lifestyle goals
• Advanced knowledge of Statistics

Languages

• Good command of the Spanish, Catalan, and English

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
