About the research group

The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a public centre dedicated exclusively to cancer, integrating prevention, care, training, and research. ICO is affiliated with the IDIBELL biomedical research institute and is recognised as a leading reference in oncology in Catalonia. Its translational research is conducted through the ProCURE Programme, part of IDIBELL’s ONCOBELL cancer research programme. ProCURE focuses on understanding tumour chemoresistance across various cancers to develop more effective treatments. Dr David G. Molleví, investigates therapy resistance driven by the tumour microenvironment in colorectal cancer liver metastases. The group is seeking a talented and motivated Senior technician for developing a competitive project that spans for three years. The candidate will engage in high-quality, translational cancer research. The group offers a collaborative and stimulating scientific environment.

 

 

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide essential technical and analytical support for developing a funded competitive project, involving both multiplex histological staining and data analyses using high-end multiplex spatial biology technologies

 

Job requirements

Professional experience

  • Proven previous experience in a research laboratory for a minimum of three years.

 

Education and training

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a health or life science discipline such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  • Have a good academic degree record; degree average > 7.5 out of 10. 

 

Technical & soft skills

  • Proficient in the use of fluorescently-labelled antibodies for tissue staining
  • Hands-on experience with various microscopy techniques, especially fluorescence microscopy.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of image analysis software such as ImageJ and QuPath will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a laboratory environment.

 

Languages

  • Good command of the English language

 

We will value, but not required

  • Knowledge of and experience in oncology are advantageous but not necessary.

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV).
