The overarching goal of DNA Mismatch Repair team is to gain insight into the molecular basis of Lynch syndrome and Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency, personalize risk assessment to patients and relatives, and improve clinical management.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic, young and well-equipped research group with strong interactions and multidisciplinary research. The candidate will also work closely with the Pathology Department at Bellvitge Hospital (HUB).
PID2023-151585OB-I00. Cáncer endometrial y pancreático en síndrome de Lynch: retos más allá del riesgo de cáncer colorectal.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced technician in Pathological Anatomy.
Lynch Syndrome (LS) is a hereditary cancer syndrome caused by constitutional pathogenic variants in genes involved in DNA mismatch repair. LS is associated with an increased risk of colorectal, endometrial and other cancers. Despite intensive surveillance, interval tumours are common. Among the less frequent LS-associated tumors, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, is the one showing the worse mortality. We aimed to identify tissue-specific early biomarkers in LS-associated endometrial and pancreatic tumorigenesis to improve surveillance and prevention strategies.
The candidate will play a key role in the project by contributing to the characterization of surgical specimens and endometrial aspirates from LS patients, including tissue processing, immunohistochemical analysis, and support in advanced techniques such spatial transcriptomics and microdissection.
She/he will work in a highly translational environment, closely collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and utilizing patient-derived samples, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to research with clinical relevance
