About the research group
The main focus of the Communications and Fundraising Unit is to communicate with the public as well as the various other stakeholders inside and outside of the institute. Our mission is to promote and monitor IDIBELL's image by developing and implementing clear, coherent and attractive strategies that improve public understanding of science and the institute, its researchers and its value for the society.
The Unit carries out its mission through a wide range of initiatives and activities aimed at different audiences, including researchers, journalists and the media, politicians, students, science teachers, the general public and, of course, IDIBELL members. On the other hand, it is responsible for carrying out institutional fundraising actions and campaigns that allow obtaining funds to accelerate the research developed at the Institute and launch new innovative projects.
The Unit is certified as a Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECyT) since 2017.
About the role
Reporting to the Communications and Fundraising Head, you will be supporting the press office and the public engagement activities that IDIBELL carries out. We are looking for a dynamic self-motivated individual with experience in content creation for both online and print projects and outreach activities to contribute with his/her skills and strengths to the institute’s mission. The contracted person will be integrated in a multidisciplinary and very active team, where he/she will receive advice and continuous support from the rest of the members of the team.
Job requirements
Professional experience
- Background in health research institutes or hospital environments similar to IDIBELL
- Experience in organizing public engagement activities
- Previous experience in scientific writing
- 1 year previous experience in a communication department of a non-profit institution
Education and training
- Higher Vocational Qualification in Scientific Communication or a related field
- Demonstrable experience in science communication
- Photo, video editing, web management, graphic design, social media or any other related courses will be a plus.
Technical & soft skills
- Essential command of email marketing software
- Basic knowledge of web content management tools (Wordpress)
- Writing and editing skills
- Graphic design, photography or video editing tools
- Motivation, initiative, learning ability and stress tolerance
- Result orientation, habituation to work for goals
- Planning and organizational capacity
- Dynamic, proactive, autonomous, and well-organized person
Languages
- Good command of the English language

Our institute
IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB), and the Viladecans Hospital (HV). The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, translational medicine and regenerative medicine. Research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens.
